Help Angel Pay for College

Hi! My name is Angel, but you might know me as A, aka Diana's kid! We're both preparing to move across states to Oregon in the next few months as I head off to my dream college (Portland State University) and my mother starts a new chapter of her life. However, we're both encountering some roadblocks. With the pandemic, my mother has had difficulties with recovering her savings as we both face unexpected medical bills, involuntary job loss, moving costs, and upcoming college expenses.

We are managing as best we can, but the transition is proving to be difficult for the both of us. This has limited how much she can financially contribute to my education, and I'd love to be able to pave my own way without putting additional pressure on her own future. It takes a village to raise a child, and that includes college!

I'm planning to work my way through school - however, I will be taking out considerable loans in order to fund my education. In the past year, I've also had two medically necessary surgeries we are currently paying off. I'm primarily fundraising for my own expenses, but some of the proceeds will go to helping my mother pay for my medical debt (whether she likes it or not!).

My choice to fundraise is not a decision made out of wanting some extra funds, but of recovering what we've lost through having settled in a remote area that proves to be mentally and physically taxing for us (not to mention the international pandemic). Any funds I gather will go towards my college education and medical expenses, as well as the moving costs I'll soon encounter. My estimated yearly college expenses are around $31,000, with around $17,000 coming from my own pocket. However, the majority of the $14,000 comes from government loans I'll eventually be paying off regardless.

For now, funds will be going primarily towards immediate medical bills and moving costs (school supplies, transportation, dorm furniture, etc.). Beyond that, they will be going directly towards paying off student loans! I'm not sure how much I'll end up receiving, but I'm truly grateful for any and all donations that help my transition go a bit smoother in the coming years!

I immensely appreciate any and all support as I move on to the next chapter of my life, and hope we can bring you along too as we meet funding goals! I'm sure you're all familiar with my mother Diana (Didi) as well - she's absolutely been my biggest supporter my entire life, and I couldn't even hope of creating something like this without her help. She's brought you along as I grow up, and just knowing I have an ocean of people I've never met cheering me along already means the world to me!
