In June, Angel City Derby moved into a new warehouse after years of fundraising and searching. Over the few short months we've been here, we have worked hard to make it great space for roller derby and other community events.
On Wednesday morning, our beloved new home caught on fire.
The fire was started outside behind our building, and quickly spread.
No one was hurt, but our roof was badly damaged and the warehouse was flooded when the fire was put out.
Community safety is our priority, so we canceled this weekend's events while the damages are being assessed.
The property owners are partnering with us to repair the roof as quickly as possible, with the goal of resuming operations without disrupting any more upcoming events.
The damage and cleanup from the fire are extensive—more than we can manage alone.
Getting this venue off the ground had already pushed us to our limits, and now we’re calling on our community to help us rebuild.
How you can help:
1. Please donate to our Warehouse Fire Relief fund
2. If you are local, we'll soon share information about a community clean up day
3. We understand not everyone can donate, so please share this post, and call your community to support Angel City.
