I'm Angel, and a little while ago I made another fundraiser for a similar reason- I needed to refill my RA medication, an immunosuppressant drug that keeps my joints from locking up, stiffening, being painful, and otherwise degrading. It's very expensive and my copay assistance program doesn't like covering it on occasion, such as now.
However, multiple factors are now coming into play at once.
If this had just been what it is without needing my immunosuppressant refilled, I wouldn't have made another GFM. Yet here we are. Here's the situation:
My mother and I are currently swamped with medical bills. Mom has recently returned home from a full hysterectomy, a procedure I'm supposed to get done shortly as well, sometime in May. It's left her with a balance due of about $1000, and mine may cost more due to being young and "healthy" (which I am not).
On top of this, I am dealing with the aforementioned issue with my immunosuppressant. My copay assistance- which was not supposed to run out, so I was told- apparently has run out, leaving me with another roughly $1000 due to pay the pharmacy, as my insurance has covered their portion of the medication.
Finally, for the third kicker- I need to refill my prescription ketamine, which thankfully is only about $100, but it is still uncovered by my insurance as they don't recognize it as a treatment for chronic pain. I've suffered severe neurological back pain that has left me significantly physically disabled and mostly bedridden since it began suddenly on July 4 of last year. It has been extremely treatment resistant, and ketamine has been the only thing to break through and actually relieve the constant pain. I need it to not suffer.
I would pay for this out-of-pocket normally, but with all our bills stacking up, it's not looking great. I also need to pay copays for things like my therapist.
I'm in so much pain I can't work, or drive, or anything like that. I make very meager money from art commissions, but it's barely enough to sustain myself. The real moneymaker in my family is my estranged father, who despite my attempts to reach out before, has ignored me and my requests for help or even to try and slightly mend our relationship. Needless to say, despite his promises to me, he refuses to assist with our medical costs. The abandonment has left me with little money to my name pretty much constantly, struggling to pay medical expenses on my own or with help from my mom.
I don't want to have my mom suffer the costs of all of this alone. I want to help her, to relieve this bit of the constant financial struggle. She's done so much for me and I hate to leave her holding the bag.
Consider helping us out. This feels less of an emergency than last time, but it's still rough.
Funds raised will cover my medication refills, doctor copays, and the cost of my mother and I's hysterectomies.
