My name is Aneecia Barrett! I am a Junior at Oakwood University and am running for Miss Oakwood! My aim is called One Day At A Time. The physical effects of depression and mental illness are silently hurting our youth! I personally suffered a crisis where I was not eating properly, not getting proper exercise, and barely ever speaking to my friends and it sent me into a spiraling depression that ended with me hospitalized. Depression isn’t just sadness its lack of motivation, the inability to get out of bed, or simply speak to a friend. Healthy eating, exercise, vitamins, journaling, and sunlight can brighten a day even in small ways! Help me guide Oakwood students to living a happier life One Day At A Time!
