Dec 22 the sudden flood which hit parts of Redding, California filled the basement housing all of the DJ equipment belonging to Andy Friesen, A.K.A. the local legend known as DJ Twitch. All of the P.A. gear, amps, turntables, and perhaps most painfully, the thousands of vinyl records he'd amassed over a 40 year period are a

total loss. No mere hobby, Twitch has very likely played a wedding you've attended, a running race you've entered, or a mountain bike event you've attended. It is quite simply a vital source of income to augment his career a s a bicycle technician. Andy is a gentle giant thatwould give anyone in need the shirt off ofhis back, with his kindness, patience, and

honesty being well known in thecycling

community. Please help us try to gather

funds to replace some of his gear and get those all important records spinning onceagain. The world needs more music, and the world needs more people like Andy Friesen. Thank you.

This flood event has hit me really hard. Everything I use to do a show—from records and CDs to computers, mixers, turntables, CD players, speakers, amps, and lighting—was rendered unusable in a matter of minutes. None of it was covered by insurance, so I’m reaching out for support to rebuild a basic setup. Just enough to start doing events again. I know I can’t possibly replace everything, but a little goes a long way.

I started out with a Radio Shack DJ mixer and a dream, using home stereo gear until I worked my way up to a nice system. Everything I had was earned, or in many cases gifted, especially the vinyl. It was, and still is, a huge part of my life—there are countless memories buried in those stacks of records. Music is the common thread that ties my life together.
