Help Andy Fight for His Life & Support the Family He Loves
On Saturday, July 5th, what began as a normal summer morning turned into a nightmare for the Szpara family.
Andy—devoted husband, loving father of two, and all-around incredible man—collapsed suddenly while watching a soccer match in his living room. Katie, his wife and a registered nurse, was in the kitchen when she heard a strange noise. Instinct kicked in, and she rushed to find Andy unresponsive. She immediately called 911 and began CPR—fighting to keep him alive until emergency services arrived.
Andy was taken to Hendersonville Hospital, where doctors worked for hours to stabilize him. When it became clear he needed more advanced care, he was airlifted to TriStar Centennial Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
At just 47 years old, Andy had no prior history of heart issues. This medical crisis came without warning. But even in the ICU, sedated and fighting for his life, Andy’s strength shines through. Every time he's briefly brought out of his medically induced coma, he finds a way to show his family he knows they’re there.
A Husband, A Father, A Fighter
Andy is the heart of the Szpara family. He and Katie have built a life centered on hard work, faith, and love. Their son, Phillip, is preparing to start college at Cumberland University this fall. Their daughter, Emily, is a high school honor student and talented dancer heading into her senior year.
Katie is doing everything she can—being by Andy’s side while continuing to work and care for their children. But with Andy expected to be out of work for months, the financial stress is mounting quickly. From medical bills to college tuition to everyday living expenses, the family is in urgent need of support.
How You Can Help
