Help Andy and Allie Start Again After Losing Everything

This fundraiser is for my good friends Andy and Allie, who unfortunately just lost their home—and their beloved pup Scout—in an apartment fire.

I met Andy through work in my medical training program, and over time got to know both him and his fiancée, Allie. For those of you who may not know them, Andy is one of those people who’s unshakably calm and collected—even on the most hectic days, he keeps his cool and always offers a thoughtful, grounded perspective. Allie is fun, warm, and genuinely a joy to be around. She serves our city as a public defender here in Philadelphia. Together, they’re a great match—supportive, kind, and deeply rooted in their community.

Unfortunately, this tragedy turned their lives around in minutes. Their apartment was destroyed along with all of their belongings. Most heartbreakingly, Scout, their puppy who was full of life and always ready to play, didn't make it out of the fire. Right now, they're very much living day to day while replacing the basics, searching for a new place, and carrying the grief of losing everything they own and their dog all in the middle of planning for their future together.

This fundraiser is to help take a little bit of weight off their shoulders as they figure things out and try to get back on their feet. Speaking from my own experience, I have often been floored by people's capacity to help each other out in our darkest moments and I'm hopeful we can help my friends through this terrible time.
