Help Andy & Loki get back on the road!

Donation protected

Andrew and Loki need your help to get back on the road and spread the word about farming and gardening!

If you’re here, that means you’ve probably followed my journey traveling throughout the US, tending to gardens and animals along the way. If not, you can find me on IG @themodernserf or view my old farm’s FB page (https://m.facebook.com/westcotefarm ).

Whether growing veggies on a tiny plot in Brooklyn...

Taking care of baby goats in Bowling Green...

Helping prep cabbage beds in Esmont...

Munching Salad in Howardsville...

Or being mobbed by chickens in Boulder...

I’ve been sharing my experiences in the hopes that people will become curious about the natural world and incorporate gardening and farming into their lives.

Whether through interviews...

(Video credit to my darling sister)

Filming shorts...

Blogging and social media...

And Video logs, too.

I eventually took the show on the road!

Loki & I packed up...

And headed west, documenting our travels along the way...

Eventually ending up in Boulder, Colorado...

However, the winter came  and we buckled down in Colorado...
It was a pretty tough winter, to be honest. We were homeless for about half of it. I remember waking up one night with icicles on my eyelashes.

But I’m working and saving...

For my next big move...

Which is what, you ask?...

Allow me to introduce, The Rig...

This is The Bebop, my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.
It s outfitted with a camper shell that served as my housing...

For five months I slept on a futon in the back, cooked my meals on a propane stove and carried only the bare essentials to live while I camped, traveled or stayed with friends. And I loved it!

I enjoyed the lifestyle and all the resulting journalism, however, it is no way to live for a long period of time... especially if you also happen to be a graphic designer & writer who needs electricity...

WHICH LEADS ME TO THE POINT OF THIS WHOLE STORY!

I am gathering the funds to purchase a slide-in pickup truck bed camper...

And rigging it with a solar assembly order to create a mobile office and home.

This will allow Loki and I to travel and work more comfortably while taking on various projects at different estates, farms and gardens...

All the while, creating content and sharing experiences about agriculture, travel and philosophy.

In order to make the vehicle as safe as  possible I will need some special equipment. It will take me several months to gather the funds I need for this undertaking.

Someone suggested GoFundMe, so here I am.

Here are the approximate costs of the project...

-$1250 budget for the slide in camper.
-$350 Rear anti- sway bar to stabilize the rear end and prevent the camper form swaying.
-$250 Timbren rear suspension system to prevent excessive weight causing the truck to sag.
-$245 Turnbuckels to secure the camper to the truck.
-$650 Frame mounted tie downs that the turnbuckles secure to.
-$400 budget on solar panels, charge controller, inverter, wires, etc.

TOTAL approximate cost: $3,145

These are the bare essential components that would make the camper livable.

If more than that is raised I will put it toward much necessary repairs to the vehicle such as:

-$100-200 New seatbelt repair.
-$50-100 rear bumper replacement.
-$200-400 4x4 Differential repair.
-$80-130 Fender repair.
-$100-200 Oil leak repair
-$75-100 Door repair
-$200 Trailer hitch extension
-$350 small trailer for use around farms ands gardens
-Any extra money would cover tools, fuel, oil, food etc.

The truck is quite drivable but it’s old and needs gaskets and seals and such repaired.

If I reach over $7k I will consider just buying a new truck entirely.

This whole asking for money over the internet thing sort of weird...but this lifestyle is something I very much believe in and want to shed light on. I know that a lot of people resonate with it.

I’ve seen farming bring friends...

And families, together...

It inspires curiosity...

Motivation..

And Joy.

People need to know about this. It needs to become the norm. Thankfully, is is easier than ever to reach people and communicate.

We need to encourage farming, gardening, conservation, rural/alternative living, work ethic and a reverence of nature. It’s COOL!

So keep the dream alive, man! Throw me a buck!

And stay classy!

Much Love, Andy.

THE END.

Just kidding, here’s more pictures...
