Help Andy & Ed Rebuild after the Creek Fire

Donation protected

This morning,  Andrea Uribe Sanders and Ed Sanders received the devastating news that their home on Auberry Road had been destroyed by the Creek Fire.

Seven years ago Andy and Ed bought their home in the mountains near Shaver Lake, excited to spend their hard-earned retirement years amidst the peaceful energy of the Sierras. Lake Time was their refuge. Ed, a home remodeler by trade, built and rebuilt every inch of their dream home, and they both dedicated their space to their six grandchildren, whose favorite place in the world to build and explore was Lake Time. Ed, known to his family as Lalo, spent his sweat and savings on the home's unique features, from its cooling system to an elaborate indoor/outdoor sound system, to family "tiny houses," grandkid homes furnished (with desks and curtains, stained glass windows, and a stage connecting them). Lalo, who grew up nearby and built another cabin near Shaver Lake as a teenager (his younger brother, Jeff, lived two miles away and also lost his home to the Creek Fire) had every power and otherwise tool imaginable for endless work on his dream home.

Andy, a women's health nurse who has worked on the border in El Paso, Texas helping communities in need for several decades (and whose brother recently died after contracting COVID-19), found peace in her mountain sanctuary. There she had all the trappings of a life well-earned, sewing supplies, crystals and gems for energy work, and many fairy houses and garden supplies for the grandkids.

I am their daughter-in-law and I've created this fundraiser for a couple who are always the givers, the organizers of help, not the takers. Now is the time for them to feel that generosity in return. Support can help them recover some of their losses as they consider what is next. With $10,000 they could replace Ed's tools and have some money leftover to find a replacement truck--it's a start. Thanks for considering a donation, just you reading this shows community and love.
