Help Andrez Recieve Hyperbaric Treatment

Donation protected
On the morning of the 27th of August 2021. Pamela experienced every parent's worst nightmare. Her 22-month-old baby boy Andres had a drowning accident..

Pamela acted immediately and performed CPR. A neighbour heard her screams for help and drove them 4 minutes around the corner to the Toowoomba base hospital. On arrival at the hospital, Andres was not breathing and had no heartbeat. Pamela watched on helplessly in shock while the emergency team worked for 15 minutes to get his heart beating again.

They were airlifted to the QLD Children's hospital. Where he spent the next 7 days in intensive care fighting for his life. We were told that Andres had suffered a severe Hypoxic Brain Injury and that the damage was so severe that he was only alive due to the machines. Over the next few days, Andres's Family prepared themselves for the agony of saying goodbye to their beautiful, happy boy.

The Doctors informed us that they were going to switch the machines off and they expected Andres to pass away shortly after, he had a lung infection which they wanted to treat first to give him the best chance but did not expect him to survive. The day came to switch off the machines and our strong boy decided to fight some more. He started breathing on his own!

He has now been in the hospital for 8 weeks, during this time he has continued to show us that he wants to live! But he still has a long way to go in terms of rehabilitation.

Please help us to get Andres the therapies that he needs, without further treatment, the Doctors currently believe that he will not improve much further. After much research and a consultation with Dr. Paul Harch, the international expert in hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We believe that this therapy can work for Andres as it has for other Drowning victims in America and Australia. One of the most notable cases is Eden Carlson.

We have found a Doctor in Robina, Gold Coast. This Doctor follows the same protocol, has a hyperbaric chamber, and has helped numerous drowning victims in Australia achieve similar results to Eden. Dr Paul Harch himself has reviewed Andrez, MRI's and medical records and believes he is a candidate for this treatment. He will be liaising with the Gold Coast clinic on Andres Treatment. This is

Unfortunately, this is not a recognised treatment on Medicare in Australia for drowning and is only used to treat decompression illness and a few other things related to lack of oxygen to the brain. The cost for each session is up to $250 and the Doctors are wanting to do treatment a minimum of 3 times a week. This will cost 9k for the first 12 weeks. There is multiple scientific evidence to support that this treatment can help Hypoxic Brain Injury.

Please see the links below.

There is currently no further rehabilitation planned for Andres in QLD health and we desperately want to give him the best chance at recovering as these other drowning victims have had. This treatment along with relocating from Toowoomba to be closer to the chamber and many other therapies and support needed will be at the Families expense.

Please help us raise some money for the Facey Family and give Andres the best possible chance to recover.
