Andrew, 35, passed away on December 18, 2021 in Sacramento, California after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born February 1, 1986 in San Francisco, California to Alexander Zernovoj Sr. and Marie (Manio) Zernovoj.
Andrew graduated from Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California in 2004. He received a President’s Scholarship Award to attend Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business in 2009, graduating Cum Laude. His budget analyst career included employment for Booz Allen Hamilton, some federal government agencies, and finally as a Senior Budget Analyst at Oracle.
Andrew was an athlete throughout his life. During high school, he played football, basketball, baseball, and competed in wrestling. After college, he competed in triathlons and half marathons in several states, including DC, VA, MD, FL, and CA. Andrew also competed in Cross-fit for several years in DC. He enjoyed watching and supporting professional sports as well, specifically the SF 49ers, SF Giants and SF Warriors. He always sported a top or sweatshirt and a hat to match on game day.
Andrew loved old cars, owning a 1970 grabber orange Mach 1 Mustang and a blue 1970 Ford F 150, which he called “Old Blue.”
Most importantly, Andrew was a family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Katelyn, in 2014. During their 20 year relationship, they enjoyed many adventures together, including international travels, day trips to the great outdoors with their dog, Scout, and several other outings where they competed in sports events together. Katelyn and their two kids, five year old Riley, and three year old Mason, were his main focus in life.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Katelyn (Reese) Zernovoj, his children, Riley and Mason, mother, Marie Zernovoj, step-father, Mauricio Miller, and one brother, Alexander Zernovoj Jr.
Service in celebration of Andrew’s life will be in February 2022. Time and date TBD.
