Help Andrew & Shadow Stay Housed While He Starts Work Again

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Andrew.

For the past year, I’ve been fighting to stay housed and working after a series of housing and job disruptions.

Last spring, I lost my winter housing in Provincetown with almost no notice. I had been staying in seasonal housing connected to my work, and I was told at the last minute that it would not be available for the summer. That decision left me without housing and no time to secure a stable alternative. I spent months living in hotels and was separated from my cat, Shadow, twice during that period.

In July, after 11 years in Massachusetts, I was forced to leave the state entirely because I had nowhere stable to live. I spent a short time in Needles, California, where I was unable to find work, and then came to Las Vegas because I believed a larger city would give me a real chance to rebuild.

For months, I have been aggressively applying to multiple jobs in Las Vegas. I’ve applied repeatedly, interviewed, followed up, and been told more than once that I was a strong candidate or a likely hire—only to be completely ghosted. This has happened again and again. Months of applications produced no stable income.

At the same time, I pursued freelance and consulting work and put in serious unpaid hours building site maps, brand kits, and project scopes. Multiple prospects agreed to move forward and confirmed terms, then disappeared. I have pushed on every possible front, and my runway is gone.

I have now secured a job, but the situation is urgent. My rent is due, and my first paycheck will not arrive in time. In Nevada, housing loss happens fast, with very little buffer, and people can be forced out quickly.

I have a cat, Shadow, and week-to-week housing is not an option for us. Most temporary hotels and short-term arrangements do not allow pets, and even when they do, they can fall apart overnight. We need stable, grounded housing—a room in a home—not temporary lodging that puts us at constant risk.

This GoFundMe is an urgent, time-sensitive emergency bridge to keep us housed long enough to reach my first paycheck, cover immediate essentials and pet care, and prevent forced displacement while I am actively working.

This is not a long-term request. This is an immediate intervention at a moment where timing determines whether we stabilize or lose housing.
