UPDATE: We are still waiting on the everyday leg. It has been approved. As of right now we are on a “loaner leg”. We are waiting on a date to get the temporary leg. We don’t have an estimate on how much it’s gonna cost yet for the temporary or back up leg.
Our family was finally able to take a vacation in Florida after three years, hoping for some much-needed rest and joy. While Andrew, my husband, was enjoying the ocean, a strong current swept away his new prosthetic leg, which he had just received a week ago. The leg, liner, and foot shell—all gone in an instant. His everyday prosthetic was brand new and now it's lost, leaving us feeling devastated and unsure of what to do next.
Andrew does have an extra prosthetic, but it doesn't fit him well and causes a lot of pain. Insurance likely won't cover another one so soon, especially since it was just replaced last week. We have three children, all under 12, and this unexpected loss has put a huge strain on our family. Anything raised will go strictly toward replacing Andrew's prosthetic leg, so he can regain comfort and mobility.
We don't usually ask for help, but in this case, we need support. Any contribution is deeply appreciated and will make a real difference for Andrew and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless.
