I’ve known Andrew Shaw since we were 4 years old, and this year we both turn 45. In all that time, one thing has never changed: Andrew has always been one of the strongest, most determined people I know.
Recently, Andrew was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most aggressive and deadly form of brain cancer. What began as strange numbness and pins and needles in his right arm turned into the devastating discovery of a tumour on his brain. He was initially given just 14 months to live, but Andrew refused to accept that as the final word.
Through sheer determination, he secured a place on a groundbreaking immunotherapy clinical trial, something very few patients are eligible for. This treatment works by boosting his own immune system to recognise and attack the tumour, offering real hope against a cancer that almost always returns.
Andrew has already completed the first stage of treatment and now faces an intense road ahead: brain surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy and chemotherapy, followed by 6 months of further chemotherapy.
It’s an exhausting and frightening journey, but Andrew is meeting it with the same courage, grit, and positivity that has defined him his whole life. More than anything, he wants to be here for his children — to watch them grow, finish school, and share the life moments every parent deserves.
Anyone who knows Andrew knows how much heart, humour, and talent he brings to the world. He was the brilliant artist behind the Chase & Status album artwork for 2 Ruff Vol 1, and he has always given so much to others.
We’re raising funds to help ease the pressure of treatment, travel, recovery, and the many unexpected costs that come with fighting glioblastoma, so Andrew can focus all his energy on what matters most: beating this and staying with the people he loves.
Please give whatever you can and share his story.
Let’s stand with Andrew and help him fight this with everything he’s got.
