Help Andres Salitre fight cancer.

Hi, my name is Diana Haney and I'm fundraising for our dear brother, son, husband, and father Andres (Andy) Salitre. As many of you already may know, Andy has been quietly and selflessly fighting cancer since he learned of his diagnosis in April 2021. He was diagnosed with testicular choriocarcinoma of which we found out had traveled to his lungs. His first round of chemotherapy was on June 1st, 2021, there was hope as his numbers significantly dropped (meaning it was working)! However, the hope was only shortcoming as his numbers gradually increased again. Andy continued with chemotherapy and was referred to the City of Hope in October 2021 to receive stem cell transplantation with a more aggressive and higher dose chemotherapy treatment regimen; however, this too was unsuccessful. In February 2022, another form of chemotherapy was started. After learning again of the unsuccessful results, it was then he was introduced and offered to perform in a clinical trial. Andres will begin in this clinical trial soon coming mid-June 2022.
However, this date could not come soon enough as Andres has recently fallen to another setback. Due to the spreading of cancer to his lungs, Andy has experienced a lung collapse and had to be admitted on June 3, 2022, for a procedure to correct this from recurring. During this 2-week hospital stay Andy also received detrimental news regarding his recent CT scan results. The cancer has now spread to his brain and several organs throughout his body system. Target radiation will be performed on these areas as he awaits the start of the clinical trial.
The reason I am raising funds is because the severity and aggressiveness of this cancer. Moreso, Andy has always been a hardworking man in supporting his family but because of this unfortunate, devastating and life changing event, Andres has not been strong enough to perform any strenuous day to day duties for which his job description calls for. His benefits are now exhausted. Although his beautiful loving wife Stacy has been working hard to keep the family afloat, medical and travel expenses have well exceeded their income. The funds raised will be used to help pay for medical expenses and to help take a burden off their hearts and minds as the past year has been stressful enough.
For those of you who do not know Andres personally and are taking the time to read this, thank you! Andy is kind, loving and selfless. His smile is captivating. He is 40 years young and the youngest of six siblings, he is a husband and father to five children. He is genuinely quiet in nature and keeps to himself. When he was well and healthy, he would never hesitate to help those in need or to lend a helping hand, even if it meant working a side job on the weekend/ his days off. Although fishing is one of his favorite relaxing hobbies; he also loves to spend time with his family and his various nieces and nephews spending weekends barbecuing eating great food, listening to music, and playing horseshoes or corn-hole.
Although one may never know why such devastating life changing events occur to the best of beings, the most important thing is to not lose faith and hope. One thing for sure, diagnosis or no diagnosis; please, life is too short, so hold those you love dearly close to your hearts, reach out and say hello, call and meet up with your loved ones often. Such is why the present is known as a gift, one may never know what tomorrow may bring. We love you Andres Salitre and we are by your side continuing this fight with you!
