Help Andres and Louise with Urgent Medical Travel

Hello family and friends, I have started this GoFundMe on behalf of my sister Louise Medina and her youngest son Andres Medina-Duran.

In June of 2024, Andres was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had surgery to remove the cancer, only to find out a few months later it had spread to the lymph nodes in his abdomen. In September, Andres underwent a second surgery to remove the affected lymph nodes. Unfortunately, we found out a few days after Christmas that the cancer had returned and spread to the lymph nodes in his chest. In January, he was started on an extensive round of chemotherapy lasting 12 weeks. Sadly, we have been informed that because Andres has a rare type of cancer that does not respond to chemotherapy or radiation, the cancer has continued to grow despite his getting treatment.

We have now been told by his oncologist that the only course of treatment at this time is to undergo a third surgery to remove the cancer. However, because of the location of the tumor, which is pressing on his airway and windpipe, the only oncologists and surgeons that are willing to perform the surgery are located in Indianapolis, at Indiana University Health Center.

As you can imagine, a trip of this nature so far from home presents a tremendous financial burden on my sister, who has already missed so much work attending to Andres during his surgeries and recent chemotherapy. As expected, this illness has also left Andres unable to work and generate any income as well. The money raised here will be used to help Louise and Andres get the urgent treatment he needs and help with their travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
