My beautiful sister, Andrea, has been diagnosed with stage III cervical cancer.
There’s a lot of uncertainty in what her life is going to look like these next few months. She has just recently moved to Arizona, where our mom & aunt live, and outside of them doesn’t have a large physical support system there.
I want to extend this support because I know she has people that love and care about her from California to Chicago to the East Coast and everywhere in between. We've created this GoFundMe to ease the burden of everything from medical bills, treatment transportation, possible relocation to an Airbnb closer to the treatment facility, support with continued healthcare, and/or to offer a simple prayer while she’s fighting this uphill battle. Currently, her cancer is wiping her energy-requiring a lot of sleep, the tumor is pressing on nerves creating leg pain, making it difficult to sit, and her immune system is weak. She’s been fighting off illness after illness, just getting over a case of strep/pneumonia. It would be a forever indebted gift for her to focus solely on healing. She’s staying positive, we’re staying positive, and want to keep this momentum going. We love her so much ❤️
After relocating from LA to Las Vegas in 2022, she established a new OBGYN. For almost the entirety of those 3 years in Vegas, she had been scheduling appointment after appointment, feeling like something wasn’t right. In the midst of 2 abnormal paps, a colposcopy, multiple bloodwork panels, physical exams, symptoms she'd never experienced before, and continuously getting sick, she was left with "everything looks fine." She moved to Arizona, scheduled her first OBGYN appointment, and within a week of that first appointment, was referred to an oncologist (after doing a little research - it’s apparent that Las Vegas is not known for their health care system).
After getting 2nd and 3rd opinions, she was accepted at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and has decided to move forward with her treatment there. The cancer is inoperable as it has advanced too far, but they feel confident that a combo of radiation & chemotherapy will have a positive impact.
