Our hearts are shattered. While my aunt Andrea was stranded in Jamaica during Hurricane Melissa, she received the devastating news that her beloved son passed away suddenly in his sleep. She was miles away, unable to get home, and now has to face every mother’s worst nightmare.

Her son was her world her pride and joy. Losing him so unexpectedly has left her broken and struggling to find the strength to keep going. On top of her grief, she now faces unexpected expenses to make arrangements, and lay her son to rest with love and dignity.

No words can truly describe the pain of losing a child, especially from afar. My aunt has always been a loving, giving person the one who shows up for everyone in times of need. Now, she’s the one who needs us.
