We're organizing this fundraiser as Andrea’s friends and family. Over the years, We’ve seen firsthand how kind, thoughtful, and selfless she is with everyone around her. She consistently shows up for people whether they’re family, friends or coworkers.

Sometimes life hits good people especially hard. When that happens, I believe it’s up to our community to help. None of us ever want to look back and think we could have helped someone and chose not to try. Andrea has carried so much for others. Now it’s time for all of us who are able to carry a little for her.

Andrea Nickerson is a devoted single mother and the primary caregiver for her family. She balances raising her daughter while also supporting her parents. When her father’s dementia progressed to the point where he needed to move into a senior care home, Andrea carried that emotional and financial weight as well.

Five years ago, Andrea’s health took a devastating turn.

What began as eczema treatment became something much more serious. After long-term use of prescribed topical steroids, Andrea developed Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), a painful and debilitating condition that left up to 75% of her body inflamed, burning, and covered in relentless itching. The symptoms were so severe she sought help from doctors in both Canada and the United States.

For six months, she endured excruciating pain before beginning immunosuppressive medication just to function. That treatment allowed her to return to work and care for her daughter, but the relief was temporary.

Last year, her symptoms returned with force. The flare was so severe she had to take medical leave from work again. After extensive testing, Andrea discovered she had been exposed to mold in her own home. The exposure led to elevated levels of mycotoxins in her body, affecting her immune system, energy levels, and overall health.

To make matters even more overwhelming, she was also diagnosed with Lyme Disease, a complex illness that can require long-term treatment.

Andrea is currently:

• Undergoing ongoing medical treatment

• Taking prescribed medications and supplements

• Preparing her home for professional mold remediation

• Temporarily relocating while walls, ceilings, and flooring are removed

• Managing the financial strain of medical leave

• Supporting the ongoing expenses of her father’s senior care

Mold remediation is extensive and costly. Medical treatments, especially for complex immune conditions, are often not fully covered. The loss of income during sick leave has made this period even more difficult.

Andrea is not someone who asks for help easily. But right now, she needs a community around her.

• Basic living expenses during recovery

Andrea has shown incredible strength through years of physical pain, uncertainty, and caregiving responsibility. She is finally on a path toward healing, but she cannot do this alone.
