Hurricane Melissa changed everything for my cousin Andrea and her husband John, who live in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, just a mile from Black River. The storm tore the entire roof off their 2,500 square-foot home, leaving every room exposed to the elements. Rain poured in, soaking furniture, electronics, clothing, and all their personal belongings. The electrical system was badly damaged, and the ceiling drywall must now be completely replaced. This house is their only place to live, and the devastation has left them vulnerable and unable to recover on their own.

Because costs are so high after the storm, Andrea and John can only afford to rebuild 1,200 sq ft now, while the remaining roof will be covered with tarps until more funds can be raised. Cement roofs are essential here: they stand up to powerful storms, prevent future roof loss, and offer long-term safety for families who have already lost so much.

We are hoping to raise enough to make these critical repairs possible. Your support will help with:

Because Andrea and John are currently facing electricity and WiFi challenges after the storm, I (the organizer) will be withdrawing the funds directly and sending every dollar collected straight to them. I promise to provide proof of every transfer and share regular updates as repairs are completed, so you can see exactly how your generosity is making a difference. I will do my best to share updates and photos of the rebuilding process so you can see exactly how your support is making a difference. This setup ensures the funds get to them quickly, efficiently, and safely, and every cent will be used solely for rebuilding the roof, repairing the electrical system, restoring the ceiling, and replacing essential items.
