Update: July 19, 2023
Dear friend,
I'm writing with an update on my healing progress and to share some unexpected circumstances that have arisen since I returned home from the hospital.
First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the incredible generosity and support I’ve received for the Help Andrea Heal fundraising campaign. Thanks to your contributions, so far, we’ve raised an impressive $12,736 toward the $25,000 goal. Your belief in me and willingness to lend a helping hand has touched my heart in ways words cannot adequately express.
Since I last reached out to you, I’ve experienced a disappointing, yet not insurmountable setback. A couple of weeks after I came home from the hospital, a small opening appeared where a suture had popped in the middle of my scar. It necessitated additional bed rest to heal properly. I was frustrated that getting back to “normal” was delayed, but I knew I had to prioritize my recovery.
In addition to this setback, I’ve also resumed my household responsibilities, teaming with my mom to run our household, handling the bookkeeping and coordinating my dad's care. Juggling these roles along with my healing process has been a challenge as my stamina has not fully returned yet.
As such, I need more rest than usual and have not taken on anything near a full work schedule yet.
I keep using that word YET and that’s a great sign. It means that, even though my recovery and getting back to my life and work is not happening as quickly as I’d like, I’m still making progress and I’m determined and dedicated to making it happen.
For instance, when I'm not on bed rest, I'm engaged in physical and occupational therapy to help me get my strength, stamina and independence back.
One day, while I was exercising, the endorphins kicked in and I came up with a new name for this fundraising campaign. The Help Andrea Get Back on Her Wheels Campaign represents my determination to regain my strength and independence. It signifies my desire to overcome challenges and get back to living life to the fullest, using my experiences to inspire others along the way.
That's where your kind donations come in. By supporting the Help Andrea Get Back on Her Wheels Campaign, you're not just helping me cover expenses. You are providing me with the means to overcome setbacks, regain my strength, and continue the inspiring work that lies ahead.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a substantial difference in my life. It will help me recover from this setback, both physically and emotionally, and allow me to focus on rebuilding my strength and independence. Your belief in my ability to overcome these challenges will provide the motivation and strength I need to keep moving forward.
If you’re unable to contribute financially at this time, please know that your well wishes mean the world to me. Kind words, encouragement, and the occasional "bed rest advice" have an immeasurable impact on my journey to regain my health and pursue my purpose.
To donate, please click the “Donate now” button in the right column of this page and then feel free to click the Share button above it to share this fundraiser page with your family, friends and colleagues.
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to every one of you who has already contributed to my cause or offered your unwavering support. Your compassion and generosity have been a source of comfort and inspiration during this challenging time. With your continued assistance, I am confident that I will be able to overcome these obstacles, get back on my feet, and continue making a positive impact in the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for considering my request. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or for further information.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Andrea

Hi. My name is Andrea Mastrobattista. In August 2017, I was diagnosed with a Stage IV Pressure Wound and was immediately placed on strict medical bed rest. Over the past five and a half years, I've tried tirelessly to heal the wound and I'm now at the point where surgery is the best option.
I have a lengthy recovery process ahead of me, during which I'd originally planned to work from my hospital bed to earn my living and pay the bills.
But with the gentle urging of caring friends and colleagues, I've come to realize that attempting to maintain a full work schedule at this time is not practical since my primary focus needs to be on healing.
By donating to my fundraiser, you'll be helping me heal and get back to doing the inspirational work that I love and do best, which is helping my clients to live by my credo:
No matter what challenges you face, you have what it takes to thrive through adversity and create a life and career you love.

Thank you for your kind donation!
