Life can change in an instant.
One day, Andre Chambers was living peacefully with his family and pets in the beloved Altadena home they have owned since the 1960s. The next day, they were sleeping on the floor of an office, the only refuge they could find from the havoc wrought by the Eaton fire.
While Andre was fortunate not to lose his home, it suffered severe smoke and exterior damage, leaving it temporarily uninhabitable. After holding off on asking for help until he could fully assess the extent of the damage, Andre now faces the daunting challenge of securing long-term temporary housing, replacing essential belongings, and covering the unexpected costs of making his home livable again. It's clear that the financial burden is far greater than they can shoulder alone. Please make a gift to help Andre and his family navigate the challenging recovery process.
Andre has deep roots in Altadena. He grew up there and started his own business in the community in 1981. If you've ever had the luck of meeting Andre, you know he's one of the most positive, joyous souls around. His giant, warm smile makes everyone feel immediately welcome. Always humble and selfless, he's the kind of person who never asks for help but is always the first to step up when someone else needs it.
Now, it's our turn to rally around him and his family as they learn how to navigate this new reality.
Every dollar donated will go directly toward helping Andre and his family find stability and move forward. Altadenans like Andre are still struggling to stay afloat after this fire—just yesterday the Airbnb that he, his family, and pets were staying at flooded in the heavy storms. If you're unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign and keeping Andre and his family in your thoughts. Your support, in any form, means the world.
Note: I am raising these funds on behalf of Andre, who is a friend of my mom.
