Andre Sparks is a happily married, family man and for the past 26 years has selflessly volunteered his time as an AAU club basketball coach, impacting the lives of countless young men and women.

Andre’s story is one of immense strength, inspiration, love, and determination. He is a true example of what it means to face adversity head-on, never giving up and always pressing forward for the sake of those he cares about.

Due to complications from Type 1 diabetes, treatment in 2019 ultimately resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee. In 2023, Andre’s health challenges continued as he faced multiple surgeries including throat surgery, three stomach surgeries, and heart surgery. His most recent health scare this past Christmas involved emergency surgery to save his left leg due to a severe blockage in the main artery. However, Andre now suffers from acute neuropathy and nerve damage making even simple day-to-day activities almost impossible.

The Purpose of this Go Fund Me campaign is to provide Andre with the Veigel right-handed push/pull gas/break hand control (Compact II model) medical device that will allow him to drive again. This device is approved by most, if not all, automotive insurance companies.

Hand controls and secondary systems alone can be in the 10’s of thousands of dollars, not to mention securing a reliable vehicle which will allow him to get to work, doctor’s appointments, basketball practices for the kids, etc. This will provide him the independence he needs instead of relying on others for help.

Through all of his struggles, Andre’s love and dedication to his family has given him the strength to keep going no matter the challenges. We would like to help this selfless, dedicated man of unwavering spirit ease those challenges and continue to shine brightly for years to come.
