2018 started off to be a great year for Andre and Angel as they prepared for their September wedding. However, in early April Andre was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. For those of you who know him, you know that he is hard-working, kind and selfless. He is also the dedicated father of 16 year-old Andy, unbelievably strong and always puts his family and friends ahead of himself.
Since the diagnosis, Andre was taken out of work by his Colon/Rectal Surgeon due to the significant symptoms he has been experiencing. He has been exhausted, in severe pain and sleep deprived. Over the next 9 months Andre will receive cancer treatment. For 5 weeks he will undergo chemo-radiation therapy in order to shrink the tumor. He will then heal for 9 weeks and prepare for a low anterior resection and ileostomy, an operation that removes the portion of the rectum that has the tumor and redirects the intestines. After three months of healing, he will undergo another operation to reverse the ileostomy. Once the pathology is complete on the tumor and post-operation Stage is known, Andre may need to have another round of Chemotherapy.
Since Andre is generally in good health and only 41 years old, he opted for a high deductible health insurance which will not cover the total cost of his treatment. At this point, we are unsure that Andre will be able to work at all during this time. This means he will be on Medical Disability, barely enough to pay the bills not to mention the added cost of cancer treatment.
All the proceeds from this campaign will assist in treatment costs to include: provider visits, lab tests, clinic visits for treatment, procedures, imaging tests (PET, MRI, CT Scan, radiologist fees, equipment used, medicines used in the tests), chemo-radiation, drug costs, hospital stays, surgery (surgeon, anesthesiologist, pathologist, operating room, equipment, medicine) and any other treatment that is necessary to restore Andre’s health.
If you can find it in your heart to help Andre and his mounting medical costs, he and Angel will be forever grateful!! Anything we can do to surround him with love and support is the most important, so that Andre can focus on beating cancer’s butt!!
