Help Andi Relocate to Sacramento for Disability & Housing

Minneapolis was a necessary chapter in my life, but it’s time for me to face the reality that I need to get back to California. Not only do I need to, I miss it—a lot. I am currently mapping out a return to Sacramento, which is the most logical path for me to access the specialized medical housing and support systems I need to finally finish the SSI process.

I need to raise funds to make this 1,860-mile trip, which will utilize the I-80 corridor, safely. Here is where that support will go:

I need a new tire because I’m currently on a slightly too wide spare that shakes the car at highway speeds and won’t make it over the mountains. I need an actual, properly fitted tire on my OEM rim (currently in the trunk, with a ruined tire on it) mounted and balanced, so I can put the spare back where it belongs.

I’m also legally required to have snow chains or cables for the mountain passes due to the time of year. Because of my physical mobility issues, I can’t put them on myself, so I need a reserve to pay for help getting them on and off at the gates.

My passenger wiper motor has been shot for a while now, and I can't drive through winter mountain passes without being able to see—trust me, it's been perilous here as well.

Gas and food are also essential for the long road ahead, especially with steep climbs and over 30 hours of driving. Anything extra goes toward a basic room to sleep in.

Sleeping in a car packed with everything I own is something I'm willing to do, but it will be agonizing. Between my bad back, my bad legs, my various neurological and other issues, and being on a regime of 25 medications, sleeping upright (because I won't be able to recline the seat) for several days is going to be a nightmare and could severely distract me at best—or strand me somewhere at worst. This support will help me make the move safely and get back to my doctors and the programs I need.

I have been trying to get on SSI for much of my adult life, and I finally have a real path forward—but I need to get back to Sacramento to access the programs and support that can help me. Getting back to my friends and the place I call home would mean more than words can express, whether I get into housing right away or have to wait. All arrows point to Sacramento as my only true path forward, and I cannot get there without your help. need. My car got towed on Feb 17th sometime in the night... Was $325 to get it out... Which has put me at -$21 instead of $0... So... Gotta update the goal to reflect this...
