Help Andi Go To IMTA Conference

As many of you know I have been trying to change careers for the past few years. I was unexpectedly laid off in March 2023 with another year of school left and mounting student loan debt. I have picked up various jobs along the way to tide us over until I could start my career as an American Sign Language interpreter. Unfortunately due to my skill set and inexperience, this career is off to a slow, rocky start. In tandem with this budding career I have finally decided to make the leap into acting professionally. However, this means further education and investments into yet another career path. I am currently working part time at Wawa, but right now we are meeting our expenses by dipping into our savings.

That's the backstory.

Part of the investment into my acting career is attending workshops and conferences. I was chosen by my agency to attend a high profile, invite only conference in Manhattan in July and we have decided that this is a good investment in my potential future. But this is the last hurrah. If this conference does not lead to securing work I will be rejoining the workforce of corporate America next fall having tried to establish my two dream careers.

The conference is the IMTA Competition (https://www.imta.com/index.php) , and working with my agency it will cost me $3000. That's not including travel, hotel, and food. I know I can do food cheaply and am hoping to find at least one roommate, hopefully three to bring down the cost of the hotel, but lodging and travel will still cost me a fair amount. The total cost of this trip is probably going to be closer to $5,000
