Help Sami with emergency housing funds!

Donation protected
My name is Sami, originally this fundraiser was to move my partner, Andi, down to live with me in Texas, hence the link name.

However, I am now facing a housing crisis.
My lease ends on May 31st, and my landlord changed his mind about leasing to me and one of my roommates just over a month before the lease ends with no prior warning before we attempted to turn in our new lease.

I am now having to make emergency plans to move myself and my cat up to Washington to live with Andi instead.
This decision does not come lightly considering the distance and Andi's current living situation, but I don't have another place to go with any certainty and only a month to prepare.

This decision also does not come cheaply, and if I am unable to raise the money I will either be faced with homelessness or the loss of my belongings.
As of right now, the estimated total for the entire move will be roughly $7,000 with more expected costs afterwards coming in the form of transferring legal documents and replacing household objects that I am having to split with my roommate who is also seeking emergency housing.

We have already lost $300 on a plane ticket purchased for the original plan of moving Andi to Texas, which is unable to be refunded.

A rundown of what the money is for:
  • Our current plan is to fly Andi to Texas before May 7th due to the ID restrictions going into effect for air travel. Andi is going to assist me with all aspects of my move and ensure the safety of myself and my cat during a cross country drive. This ticket, under such short notice, will cost over $300.
  • As is typical, there will be moving expenses such as moving boxes, tape, and packing supplies like bubble wrap. Estimated cost may reach $100 or more.
  • I have to prepare my cat for long distance travel. This would include vet visit(s), possible prescriptions, specialized travel care items, updating legal documents, and supplies for health and sanitary emergencies. Expecting a total cost of $500 depending on vet fees and prescriptions.
  • I have a reservation for a moving truck for all of my belongings, which will be the bulk of the expenses with the truck rental being estimated at $3,330 and fuel for the trip being estimated to be at least $1,220.
  • As I will be the only driver, we are anticipating having to stop to rest for 3-4 nights. For safety reasons, I intend to only drive for roughly 8 hours a day with frequent stops for my cat. We are anticipating lodging to cost a minimum $300, up to $500.
  • We are guessing it will be a minimum of $100 for water and food for us and my cat, potentially reaching $200, to account for the inability to prepare and store food for a week long trip.
  • As mentioned before, there may be other expenses incurred based on updating documentation such as my formal address and driver's license, replacing shared belongings such as appliances and household goods, fees for applying for new housing as well as deposits, and fees for seeking legal counsel regarding the sudden loss of housing.
  • We are looking to raise more than the currently calculated costs to account for the potential variances in prices for the listed items that may occur based on availability and location, additional fees that may develop, and unexpected emergencies.
If total funds are unable to be secured, we will still need to rent a standard vehicle, for example an SUV, which would be estimated to be at least $1,000 for the vehicle and $300 for fuel. We would have to pay for storage, if possible, until funds are secured to retrieve my belongings. If I am unable to pay for storage my items will be lost and need to be repurchased, some of which are irreplaceable family heirlooms that are too large for a standard vehicle. All other expenses would still apply, which is still more than we can afford.

Some additional info for why I'm asking for help:
I have recently completed the arduous and lengthy process of acquiring a diagnosis for a disability that has hindered my ability to acquire and maintain employment throughout my life. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to gain employment since my treatment began in February.
Because of this, I have no savings and no income.

How I've made it this far:
For the last few years, the roommate that is also facing this crisis has been providing for me financially, and my medical assistance is tied to them.
In addition to that, this friend recently revealed to me that they are struggling financially and would be unable to continue taking care of me with things as they are. They are likely going to have to seek financial assistance regarding their move; so I won't be able to count on their help with my move.
Regardless of that, we are not confident in our chances to acquire housing for 3 people and a pet under one income with only a month to do so, resulting in the current plan to ensure their safety and increase their chances of making it out of this hole.
All of that being said, I am eternally grateful to this friend and hope to repay them someday. I harbor no hard feelings for them and look forward to them joining us in Washington one day.

More reasons to move to Washington:
Fortunately, I have prospects for employment and potential housing in Washington with the help of Andi's family in order to regain my independence.
I also stand a better chance at applying for and gaining financial assistance to continue with the medical care I require.
Washington also serves as a political refuge for me as a marginalized person. I worry for the safety of myself, my partner, and our rights under the current administration. I intend to marry my partner, and am not confident about our ability to do so in the state of Texas in the future.
We were already thinking about moving to Washington next year after our expected lease were to end, but that would have only been possible with the year of preparation.

Andi and I are actively reaching out to friends and family, but under such short notice, it does not seem we will be able to receive as much help as we need. I cannot stress enough how serious this situation is.

So to everyone reading this, thank you for reading this far.

I can never thank you enough for any amount you can spare.
You're literally saving my life.
