Hello everyone! My name is River and I am Anders big brother. Anders is the sweetest 4 year old kid. He loves superheroes (Spider-Man specifically) and asking an exasperating amount of questions. Anders loves every body and loves to strike up conversations with every one he meets. He loves to be silly. His favorite things to do would be digging in the flower beds, chasing the ducks and going boat ridding (as he calls it).
Anders has been a healthy happy child that started having unrelenting dangerous fevers and stomach pain. After being admitted to the hospital and having many tests and a bone marrow biopsy he has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He is set to start treatment tomorrow. Not only will this be hard on him, but hard on our family emotionally and financially. I know this isn’t the best time financially for everyone, but it would mean a lot to me, my brother, and our family if anyone had anything to spare. We all want to see Anders grow up and live a long happy life. Any support, whether it be thoughts, prayers, or financial support would mean the world to us. Thank you!!
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is a type of blood cancer that starts in the white blood cells in your bone marrow. It develops from immature lymphocytes, a kind of white blood cell that's key to your immune system.
ALL is also known as Acute lymphocytic leukemia. "Acute" means it gets worse quickly. It's a rare type of leukemia or blood cancer in adults, but is the most common in children.
ALL invades your blood and can spread to other organs, such as your liver, spleen and lymph nodes. It usually does not make tumors like other cancers.
Some symptoms of ALL can include...Fatigue or weakness, dizziness or lightheadedness, Feeling cold, Shortness of breath.
Without enough white blood cells you may have... more fevers, more infections.
A lack of platelets, (tiny cells that help your blood clot), may cause... Lots of bruising for no clear reason, frequent nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or unusual bleeding from minor cuts, bone or joint pain, headaches, trouble with balance, vomiting, seizures, blurred vision, and trouble breathing.
