Help and Support the Daniel Family

Donation protected
I am raising money for my sister and her family.  They are dealing with things that we never dreamed possible.  I would love for her family, friends and community to rally around her and support her during this new season in life.  Please continue to send them love and prayers.  Here is their story...

Hi, I am Kim. I am the wife of Chris Daniel. We have been together for almost 30 years, we have two children, and 2 granddaughters. We are Cumming natives and still live in the North Forsyth area. Last year, 2020, Chris began to lose vision in both eyes and we of course became concerned. Chris went to his optometrist around February of 2020 and was thought to have glaucoma. The optometrist wanted to do a more in-depth test and then Covid-19 came along and put that on hold. Fast forward - Chris started to become very fatigued and sleeping much of the day after work. We went to his family physician and all blood work came back great but low iron. We were finally able to get the testing done with his optometrist. When she came back with the results, we were in shock. She said, you have either had a stroke or you have a brain tumor. Two days later Chris’s eyes began to change sizes erratically. I made him go to the hospital and it was confirmed had a brain tumor. This type of brain tumor is called a craniopharyngioma. They believe he has lived with this tumor since childhood.

Chris had brain surgery on October 6th, 2020. Everything went great and was planning to be discharged the last week in October. Friday, October 26th, that night around 10:00 P.M. everything changed. Chris stopped breathing for a few seconds and had to be intubated. After that night he went into a coma state for about 18 days. When he awoke, he was no longer able to move his arms, legs, hands, or fingers. Along with this came many health issues and damage to his liver. We have yet to learn what caused this chain of events. Once Chris was stable enough, he was accepted to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Two weeks of being at Shepherd, he contracted Covid-19. Another set back for Chris. He spent about 25 days in ICU and I was told to expect the worse. They truly believed that Chris was not going to survive. However, God had other plans and CHRIS MADE IT THROUGH. He has begun rehabilitation and is improving every day.  The team of doctors here at Shepherd have given Chris the diagnosis of CIM. This is a type of muscle disease. They feel that he will be a quadriplegic the rest of his life. We, however, have faith that God will see him through this as well.

The money being raised is to help with home modifications, the purchase of a used wheelchair accessible van, and other needs that may occur. When I was allowed to be with Chris and being told to expect the worse, I decided to quit my dream job to be with him. Once, you enter the center you can’t leave. If you do then you have to wait 21 days and provide Covid-19 negative results.  Therefore, we have very little income. Donating to this fund would mean that Chris can come home to our family and begin our “new normal.” Chris would love nothing more than to be home with our kids, granddaughters, family, and friends. This has been a truly humbling experience and we have gained a new faith in God, friends, and family. I can ensure you this money will be used for Chris’s needs.  We are grateful for your support, no matter the amount of donation that is given. It can be materials, labor, support, or monetary. May God bless you!
