On July 11th Mary Green was taken to the emergency room where it was determined that she had a blood clot and a spot on her lung. After a brief stay Mary Green was able to return home and continue her care as an outpatient. She went through a few weeks of testing and got her official diagnosis on August 15th. Mary Green had stage four lung cancer and the plan was to treat her with chemo, radiation and immunotherapy. Before she started treatment Mary Green decided to take a vaction with her daughter Melissa to the beach, one of her favorite places. Sadly on her second day of vacation she ended up being hospitalized in ME. After 5 days in ME she was able to return home only to he hospitalized 7 days later again in Lowell. The cancer had spread very quickly and was no longer treatable. After 23 days at LGH my best friend of 44 years passed away yesterday. If you had the pleasure of knowing Mary Green then you know she was the most amazing woman. Mary Green was a selfless individual always giving to her friends and family and never expecting anything in return. For those of you that really knew Mary Green you would know how prim and proper she was and will probably find it just as amusing as I did that in the last few weeks she had turned into quite the truck driver dropping f bombs like crazy. I was so proud!
