Malcolm Campbell, the unofficial Mayor of City Island, Bronx, is a Rock and Roll Legend whose presence has touched so many of us in so many ways. We've all been blown away with his incredulous stories, marveled at his larger-than-life persona, and astonished by his endless energy and true Southern grit.
Because of Malcolm, his huge heart, and his magical ability to connect with others, we've been blessed with the most unforgettable memories. Whether it be a wild night on the town, a beautifully debaucherous party at SXSW, or a lazy sunset sail on the "Lover's Knot," Malcolm always ratcheted up every experience to 11.
As many of you may know, Malcolm was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019. It was a devastating blow, yet he met the challenge head-on in proper Malcolm form and fashion. With surgery and treatment, he turned the corner and felt as though he was on the road to recovery.
He continued to rehabilitate during these crazy COVID times, but towards the end of 2020, he started experiencing some unusual pain and knew something wasn't right. In January, Malcolm suffered a stroke and was readmitted to the hospital, where he discovered his cancer was back with a vengeance.
Malcolm remained in the hospital for over a month and was released in February. Since then, he has been home with his amazing wife and children. Their lives have been upended as they put everything on hold to ensure that Malcolm's days are filled with love and round-the-clock care.
As you can imagine, the bills are piling up. This GoFundMe aims to give the family some assistance in the days to come. Whether it be for hospital bills, hospice care, or medication, we want Char and the kids not to have to worry about finances right now.
This is our chance to give back to the man who has given so much to all of us. One of the best ways we can honor Malcolm is by providing his family with the respite and care they desperately need and deserve.
