Our dear Bernadette (affectionately known as BJ and Bernie) Mitchell has been bravely living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Her MS is now at its disability phase, and the illness has disabled her ability to walk and to utilize her hands. In addition, BJ is battling other serious medical conditions, and life-threatening infections.
BJ continues to fight back as best as she can. Every day is a challenge. Who would have thought that BJ, after giving so much as a registered nurse for over 30 years, would be facing life threatening health challenges?
As of October 14, 2025, BJ, is in the hospital being treated for blood clots in both legs, and open wounds on her body. Surgery is scheduled to remove blood clots from both legs, and then more surgery in November 2025 for other problems.
BJ continues to face each day with faith, hope, and a relentless smile, as she endures her daily pains and immobility. As her family, we are reaching out for your financial support to help ease BJ’s financial burdens, as she focuses on her health and recovery.
We are hoping to raise eleven thousand dollars ($11,000) to pay her outstanding medical bills for home caregiver services and medical supplies.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in BJ’s life. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
If you are unable to donate, your prayers and sharing this fundraiser with others, means the world to BJ, her family, and friends. Thank you.
Postscript:
2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
When we talk about God blessing those who give, we need to first acknowledge the significance of giving itself.
Warmly,
Fernandes, Peterson and Mitchell Families. We thank you.
