Help and Support A New Samaritan School Construction
Donation protected
Samaritan Volunteers is an NGO that supports education for underprivileged children in the Chamazi Community. We run a school that helps a maximum of 100 children from low-income families who are coming to study every day, Monday through Friday, throughout the year. We are located in the southern part of the city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in East Africa.
Chamazi Village is home to 205,000 inhabitants, with children and teenagers representing more than 50% of the population. We have only two public schools which support more than 5,000 children each, that is not enough. There are many children in the street who don't go to school and therefore lose their opportunity to get an education. There are many reasons why they don't go to school including a lack of parental guidance and control, a low income family situation and the inability to purchase school materials and uniforms, lack of early education, lack of a birth certificate (children are not allowed to register at public school if they don’t have one), the lack of meals served at public schools, the poor quality of education provided in our public schools due to different challenges like the unreasonably high student to teacher ratio (each class has 250 children and one teacher), and the lack of enough desks and chairs so children have to sit and write on the floor. These are just some of the many challenges which hinder educational opportunities for children in our community.
Samaritan Education Centre is an alternative option which provides motivation and educational opportunities for the children who don't go to school, and for those who are willing to go to school but face the above difficulties. We provide free education from kindergarten through to Primary School level. Since beginning this project, we have been able to help more than 500 children access free education, additionally providing them with essential resources including school materials, meals, and uniforms. So far, more than 180 children have completed the kindergarten level of education in our school and were able to advance to different Primary Schools.
We are currently constructing a new Samaritan School where we will be able to expand our student capacity to 350 children, which is an additional 250 beyond the capacity of our current school. The total maximum cost of the project is estimated as 25,000 Euro. Currently, construction of the school is approximately 30% complete. All of this progress to date has been achieved by our dedicated Samaritan Team, our lovely volunteers, and through generous donations.
We are asking for donations from anyone around the world who would like to support our new Samaritan School. Even small amounts of $5, $10, or more will make a tremendous impact during the construction phase of our new school, and through this donation you will be contributing to a better future for our children.
“Let's join together to bridge this educational gap for our children, brightening their future, and making the world a better place to live”, says Emmanuel Peter, founder of the Samaritan Volunteers NGO.
