Help and Love for The McLaughlan’s
Donation protected
We are raising funds for the McLaughlan family, who have recently had a tragic accident.
While away on a family vacation in New Brunswick, a time that was meant to celebrate and make memories with family, tragedy struck in an instant. Jenn and family found Briar had entered the family pool and was in cardiac arrest. Both Jenn and their Grandmother performed CPR for 17 mins while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, at which time she was taken to hospital in Fredericton. Once stable enough to be transferred, Briar was then flown to the IWK where she remained sedated to allow her brain and little body the much needed time to heal. Through all of this, Andrew was deployed with the CAF and was repatriated back home immediately.
To date, Briar has had an EEG which showed some abnormalities and an MRI which showed some brain activity and swelling. Her next MRI will be in 2 weeks to compare the progression.
As anyone who has spent any time with Briar knows, she is a tough, fierce and independent little wild child. Her huge personality and strength have helped her make some pretty major achievements in a very short time since her accident, but she has a very long road ahead of her.
Through all this, Andrew has returned to Canada from his CAF deployment overseas and he and Jenn are together now by her side at the IWK in the PNIC Unit. Briar’s brother Shawn (8) and sister Leah (6) are two of her biggest cheerleaders and are currently staying with family in NB.
In this time, of uncertainty and need, we are hoping to raise some much needed funds to help ease the incredible financial burden that will accompany a lengthy stay in Halifax to be by Briars side. Please come together with us and envelope the McGlaughlan’s in love and support, absolutely no donation is too small and ever so appreciated.
Thank you so much for being here.
