This GoFundMe campaign is for my cousin, Arland (Bobby) Abellard. In late June, Arland started to feel an excruciating pain in his leg that sent him to hospital emergency room twice. The first time they sent him home, the second time on July 6th, he was taken in an ambulance. Doctors discovered that he had multiple blood clots in his leg and quickly took him into surgery for a Fasciotomy. Arland would have 7 surgeries on his leg in less than one week. During one of those surgeries, Arland went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, doctors were able to revive him and he returned to his ICU hospital room for recovery.
Sadly, Arland's recovery did not go as planned, as one of the arteries in his leg did not recover and there was no blood circulation to his toes.
Arland would have his 8th surgery - his left leg was partially amputated (above the knee). Doctors do not know the cause of this disease. Arland will be on medication for the rest of his life and will now have to learn to live a full life as an amputee. If you know Arland, you know he has been through a great deal in his 32 years. It is incredible to hear how motivated he is to begin this new chapter in his life.
Arland’s month long stay in the hospital has
resulted in extremely high medical bills. He
will also require a prosthetic leg to get back to a semblance of the life he led before the
amputation. Arland is also in need of a new
supportive bed that will allow him to transition back home with support. He is in the process of getting Medicaid Insurance, however, Medicaid will not cover all of his expenses.
The goal of this campaign is $50, 000 to cover the medical bills as well as the cost of the prosthetic leg. No donation is too small.
Please help get Arland back on his feet.
