Miracles for Mac Kearse

Happy New Year Everyone!
We had hope to inform everyone of better news this year. As many of you know, Mac was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer in February of 2022.  Mac has been receiving chemotherapy ever since he was released from the hospital last March. He has been receiving treatment every other week. We have been driving to and from Columbia every week multiple times a week for the past year. This has been very exhausting. Physically, mentally, and financially. Our funds are exhausted as are we. We are so so grateful for both of our families and all of you that have helped us get this far. Mac’s battle has taken a very unexpected turn.
While we had received great news over the summer that Macs treatments were working. His tumor marker numbers had dropped from 9,200 to 13. Can you believe that? Truly a miracle. A Godsend. We thank you for all of y’all’s prayers..the doctors never expected the treatment to work as well as it did. I should have posted about it when we got the news but I was scared. I should have given God His credit regardless of my fear. Please forgive me. This has been unlike anything I have ever been through. One day at a time has truly never made more sense during this time.

Instead of coming to you with good news, I am coming to you pleading for your help.  Mac’s treatment is no longer working. His cancer has spread. It’s growing at 5 times the rate it was. This week we have had an appointment everyday on top of his chemotherapy. He is really struggling. He said what I fear most today. The financial stress is at an all time high as his phone has been ringing off the hook. He is receiving disability but this doesn’t cover all his bills and definitely doesn’t begin to cover all the gas. The news of his treatment no longer working has his spirit broken down and he is currently fighting an upper respiratory infection, more intense pain, and all the side effects of chemotherapy. We are really struggling financially spending our last $50 on gas just to get to today’s two appointments. With the added financial burden, this battle seems impossible. We cannot do this alone. He is putting his best smile even with the pain and nausea. He has not given up and I want him to know that we have not given up on him either. I beg of you to please donate what you can so we can give Mac the best possible chance. Anything you can give matters. A lot. We have got to get tires put on his truck and the transmission fixed before it goes out. His deductible on his health insurance has to be met and it is $840. We have to get his prescriptions. With bills piling up faster than before, I pray for any blessings and miracles to come our way. Mac is the strongest individual I have ever met. He has made chemotherapy look like a cakewalk up until about a month ago when he started to complain of his hips hurting more than normal. When we met with his doctor to talk about him getting a break from getting infusions every other week, we found out the complete opposite and worse. The has two fractures on both sides of his pelvis. The tumor on his left side has grown to 8 cm and a tumor in his stomach that is about 5 cm. We are upset that the cancer was able to spread to his stomach and to that size without being detected. We are looking into other options but for now we are limited. He is scheduled to have hip surgery in late February if he decides to go through with it. The doctor has agreed to operate on both sides if his doctor decides that is the best course of action. He is to have a biopsy on the mass in his stomach within the next week. I am asking you to help Mac during this time because if any of you were in his situation he would be the first to take the shirt off his back and give it to you. Even now he would give any of you all that he has just to know that it would bring a smile to your face. This man has the kindest heart. His life has not been an easy one, but he has made the best of every thing that has been thrown his way. I know life isn’t fair but watching this man go through this first hand has been not only inspiring but also truly heartbreaking. I can’t imagine how he feels. In despite of the pain and uncertainty, he continues to push forward. He prays. He tries his hardest to have a good day every day. He goes out of his way to do for others. I would give this man the world if I had it. I would give my life for him. I would take his pain and not think twice. I don’t have anything more to give. I am doing all that I can for him right now. So I am asking for back up from all of you. I need your help.

God, we are in desperate need of your gracious miracles. Please bring peace to our minds and keep the love in our hearts. Hold our thoughts positive and faith unbreakable. God, we give it all to you. Thank you for bringing us closer to you. Please bring purpose to Mac’s suffering. Please let him be an example for others to have faith in You, because with You, all things are possible. Amen.

February 2022:
This fundraiser is to help raise money for Mac Kearse's fight against Stage 4 Metastatic GE junction adenocarcinoma. This type of cancer is life threatening and incurable with a survival rate of 7%. His doctors warned us how aggressive his type of cancer is and that the battle ahead won't be easy. Mac is a 31 year old from Bamberg, South Carolina. On February 2nd, Mac was directly checked into the Prisma Richland Hospital after doctors found spots on his ribs. What was originally thought to be a cracked vertebrae and a few cracked ribs has turned out to be cancer. It took doctors about three weeks to determine what type of cancer Mac has. The primary cancer started in the bottom of his esophagus extending into the top of his stomach. It has also spread to his pelvis, spine, all lymph nodes in his abdomen, multiple ribs, and multiple spots on his organs.  The cancer has done irreversible damage in his hips, ribs and spine that will need reconstruction as well as treatment. He is doing continuous chemotherapy four days out of the week. He started chemotherapy at South Carolina Oncology Ass. on March 7, 2022. He has good and bad days, but each day we are thankful for.
He has a hard long battle ahead of him and any amount of money to help ease the financial burden of this painful journey is much appreciated. If you are unable to donate we understand, but we ask you to pray for his pain and recovery. If you can add Mac to your church's prayer list, please do. Prayers go along way, and we are praying for miracles. No prayer goes unheard. We thank you in advance for any donation or prayer.
We are thankful for all the donations thus far.
Mac has gotten Health insurance by nothing short of a miracle, but that does not mean the bills aren't still piling up . We continue to ask for donations while Mac fights for his life.
