I'm Sue Richardson and I'm raising funds to help my friend Anas conquer cancer. She is just 37 years old and engaged to be married.
It's her birthday today, but instead of celebrating she is coming to terms with the devastating diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer. In early May she was having pain in her breast and her doctor referred her to an oncologist. She had a scan and was told she had multiple cysts but there was nothing to worry about. Two weeks later she was in such pain she couldn't use her right hand. The doctor just said she had to wait for two months as it was probably hormone related.
This week she saw him again and he was shocked how the lump had grown. Tests followed and she got the diagnosis yesterday. She will be having a mastectomy as soon as possible - hopefully next week.
David and I are paying for the operation. However there will undoubtedly be follow up appointments as well as general living costs. Anas works in the tourism business in Indonesia and has had no employment for several months. Her fiancé is also in the hospitality sector and again now has no work. They need to pay their rent, buy nutritious food etc. I'm organising this fundraiser to take the financial pressure off them both. I will transfer all donations directly to Anas and will post a record of the transfer on here.
Please consider supporting this wonderful young woman. Despite being so unwell, during Covid she has been cooking and distributing nasi goreng to others in need. Those who have travelled with us know what a vital part of the team she is - everyone loves listening to her beautiful songs about her homeland of Ambon. We are convinced she is part fish as she is never happier than when she is in the water, whether it's free-diving or helping guests find nudibranches.
We really appreciate any help you can give, no matter how small.
Sue and David.
