Sweet Anari has come such a long way since we first started fostering her, but now she needs the help of our community. We are asking for your support to help Anari get the professional training she needs to overcome her anxiety and reactivity, so she can have the best chance at a happy, forever home.

When Anari first came to us from the DeKalb County animal shelter, she was extremely stressed and completely detached from people. She wouldn’t look us in the eyes and tried to escape every chance she got. It took months to teach her to sit, as she would back away rather than take a treat, and when we let her off leash in our backyard, she would run to the farthest corner and avoid us until she was exhausted.

With patience and love, Anari has made amazing strides. She now sits on command, waits at an open door until she hears her “free” command, comes when called (especially for a treat), and is learning new skills like “leave it,” “heel,” and “place.” We have even started her on medication to help with her anxiety. However, Anari still struggles with extreme dog reactivity and separation anxiety. She forgets all her training when she sees another dog, and she’s still learning what is safe to chew to relieve her stress.

We have done the training we can, but Anari needs a professional to help her overcome these challenges. We want to send her to a Lifeline Animal Services-approved training program that uses only positive reinforcement – an absolute must for a dog with trust issues. This program will give her the time and support she needs to become her best self and improve her chances of adoption into a forever family. Nothing would make Anari happier!

Due to the anticipated training time Anari will need, we must ultimately raise a little over $3,000 – but GoFundMe's algorithm set an initial goal of $1,600.
