Earlier this week, our friend and coworker Anaïs experienced a devastating tragedy. While she was out, a fire (origin unknown) broke out in her apartment. She rushed home, but by the time she arrived, the unimaginable had already happened. Her beloved dog and three cats had passed away.

Anaïs has dedicated so much of her life to helping animals in need through her work at Muddy Paws Rescue, as well as Waggytail Rescue and Positive Tails. Anyone who knows her knows how deeply she loves and advocates for animals. We are heartbroken for her over the loss of her pets.

In addition to the most devastating loss of her pets, the fire destroyed or severely damaged most of her belongings. Between fire, smoke, and water damage, she has lost everything, and will not be able to return to her home. She now faces the overwhelming reality of starting over from scratch, including securing a new place to live, as well as replacing basic necessities like clothing, furniture, and household items–not to mention the unfathomable reality of starting over without her dog and her cats.

While the fire started in Anaïs's apartment, she was not the only one affected. Her best friend Seb lived across the hall, and his apartment also suffered extensive damage. He has been displaced as well and will need to replace many of his belongings.

While nothing can replace the pets Anaïs lost, we want to do anything we can do to support her and Seb during this incredibly difficult time. We're hoping to ease their financial burden so they can focus on grieving, healing, and rebuilding their lives.
