Help Ana Visit Home After 22 Years
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ana and I am a DACA recipient fundraising money to visit my home country of Peru.
I was accepted into the Scholar Fund's Cultural Leadership Fellowship and granted Advance Parole by the government to travel to Peru, Brazil, and Europe. I am raising money to cover program fees, housing, and flights.
I migrated to California when I was 6 years old and grew up undocumented. I was 17 when I applied for DACA. The DACA program changed my life and protects me from deportation and gives me a work permit for 2-year intervals. It also allows us to request a permit to travel outside of the U.S. and come back.
I haven't been able to visit Peru in 22 years. I've missed a lot of things from my home country, but most importantly my grandmother, my uncles and aunts, and my cousins.
Through the fellowship, I will be conducting ethnographic research in Peru, Brazil, and Europe. I currently work in immigration and this research will be crucial in helping me continue my work in finding solutions to create a more equitable society.
My dream for many years has been to return home to visit my family in Peru and to travel the world. Please consider donating any amount to help accomplish my dream!
