Hi, my name is Emily and I've started this gofundme to ask for your kindness toward my dear friend Ana.

Ana is doing everything she can to make a beautiful life for herself and her two children in the US after the tragic loss of her husband in Guatemala. Ana has been granted temporary asylum but to complete the process, she needs our help with some upcoming legal fees.

ANA'S STORY:

Ana met Pedro, the love of her life, eighteen years ago. They fell in love and built a beautiful life in Guatemala together. They have two wonderful children - Pedro (7) and Valeria (12). In 2020, Ana's husband unexpectedly passed away. The circumstances surrounding caused Ana and her children to need to seek asylum. They arrived safely in the US. The kids are thriving in school and making friends (including my children) here in South Carolina. Ana and her family bring our community so much joy and life!

As you can imagine, Ana has demonstrated incredible strength and resilience to have gotten her family this far. But right now, she could use the help of her community and kind strangers to get her over this next hurdle.

WHAT YOUR MONEY DOES:

All funds go directly to Ana's legal fees to finalize asylum. Once that is accomplished, Ana will be able to get her driver's license and work permit, providing much-needed stability.

Most imminently, Ana has an invoice due June 6 to her lawyer. Without these funds, her lawyer will discontinue the application process.
