My mom, Ana Regalado, is one of the kindest, most loving, and strongest women I know. She’s beautiful inside and out, hardworking, and full of faith. Her strength, love, and belief in God have always guided her and everyone around her.
All her life, my mom has done whatever it takes to provide for her daughters and give us a good life. She’s always put others first — working hard, caring deeply, and showing us what unconditional love looks like. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her the way she’s always been there for us.
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, our lives changed suddenly while we were visiting family in Texas. Out of nowhere, she started having back pains, moments later her legs were becoming numb and weak. I immediately called 911 for an ambulance and they took her to the nearest hospital in Conroe, Texas (HCA Houston HealthCare Conroe). Before she was taken to the hospital, she still had movement in her legs, but when went to see her she had become paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors at first believed she had Transverse Myelitis, so they started to treat her with a week of steroids, but nothing improved. After, she was transferred to another hospital in Houston (Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center) due to the hospital not having the proper medical equipment to continue care. There, Doctors began the Plasmapheresis (PLEX) treatment, which was supposed to be for 5 days, but she only received 1 round because doctors now strongly believe it may have been a Spinal Stroke and continued treatment could've caused more harm than good. Still after countless tests, we’re waiting for a clear diagnosis. My mom had to remain in Texas for about three weeks, receiving medical care before we were finally able to bring her back home to Miami, FL so she could begin her rehabilitation journey.
Right now, my mom is in inpatient rehabilitation, working hard every day to regain her strength. Once she’s discharged, she will continue with outpatient therapy, which will be a long and gradual process.
We are raising funds to help her with medical expenses, insurance, assist her with her regular bills and anything she may need during her rehabilitation and recovery journey.
We would be so deeply grateful for any donations, prayers, and words of encouragement. Every bit of support helps ease her burdens and allows her to focus on healing.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with my mother Ana and her family in helping her stay strong through this journey.
