Hi, my name is Gabriela Thomé, and I am raising funds to help my parents make my sister’s dream come true—to attend a Christian college in the United States.

Eight years ago, my parents left everything behind in Brazil and came to the U.S. with one goal: to give my little sister, Ana Julia Thomé, a future full of opportunities. She was just 10 years old at the time.

Adjusting to a new life as an immigrant wasn’t easy. Ana Julia had to learn a new language from scratch, navigate a different culture, and face challenges such as bullying and having her faith questioned and mocked. Through it all, she watched my parents sacrifice their health, rest, and comfort—working tirelessly while living in a small two-bedroom basement in a good neighborhood so that she could attend one of the best schools in Massachusetts. Their ultimate dream? To provide Ana Julia with the opportunity to attend college in this country.

Despite every obstacle, Ana Julia never wavered in her faith, identity, or purpose. She is driven, compassionate, and determined to serve others. She lights up every room she walks into, always offering encouragement even in tough times. Her dream is to study business at a Christian college so she can become an entrepreneur who upholds strong Christian values and makes a positive impact wherever she goes.

However, this dream comes with a challenge—one that my parents cannot overcome alone.

My parents dedicated their lives to the church in Brazil and now serve their community in the U.S. in any way they can. The savings they had were spent on their U.S. residency process, allowing them to build a life here for Ana Julia. As you know, higher education in the U.S. is incredibly expensive. While Ana Julia has worked hard and earned multiple scholarships, they still don’t cover even half of her tuition.

The yearly tuition cost is $45,672, and even with the scholarships she has received, she still needs to cover at least $27,000 per year.
