Help Us Save Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Our family is facing an incredibly difficult time, and we are reaching out for help to save someone very dear to us: our mother and grandmother, Ana Holguín, a woman full of love, warmth, and resilience who has spent her life helping others.

For 35 years, Ana worked tirelessly as a Case Manager for the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) in New York City, dedicating herself to supporting vulnerable children and families in need. Even after her retirement, she continued to be a guiding light for her family.

But now, Ana needs our help.

What Happened to Ana?

Just over a week ago, while visiting with our family in the Dominican Republic, Ana experienced what seemed to be an allergic reaction due to a scratch inside her nostril cavities, which caused swelling around her eyes. Despite taking medication to manage the symptoms, her condition suddenly took a turn for the worse.

She developed a fever, chills, pain, and severe breathing difficulties, prompting her emergency admission to the hospital. After a series of tests, doctors diagnosed her with:

- Mixed Cardiogenic and Septic Shock

- Severe Periorbital Cellulitis (a dangerous infection around her eye)

- Complications from Diabetes (DM2) and Hypothyroidism

- Kidney Failure as a consequence of medication, therefore, needs Dialysis treatment as well

Her condition deteriorated rapidly. Ana is now in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a country where her Insurance is not accepted. She is currently intubated and on mechanical ventilation, requiring double vasopressor support to keep her blood pressure stable, which makes her condition too delicate for transportation purposes. Despite the doctors' best efforts, she remains hemodynamically unstable and is fighting for her life.
