I recently called a friend and my favorite nail technician to wish her a happy birthday and was shocked to find out the horrific conditions in which her and her 3 daughters have been living in for months. The apartment she lives in and runs her business out of has become infested with rats and maggots. They’re everywhere, the smell is so unbearable she had to wear masks in her own home 24/7. After months of asking the building for help and even being featured on News 12 in the Bronx & Primer Impacto, a clean up crew with hazmat suits we’re finally sent in to assess the situation. It was so bad her and her 3 girls were forced to evacuate her home of over 10+yrs in a matter of 7 hours. The team that was sent in broke and threw out most of her belongings… furniture, her and her daughters beds, mattresses, clothes, shoes, everything. The few things that could be salvaged were carelessly thrown into an empty apartment they can’t even access. The buildings management currently has her and her 3 daughters sleeping in a tiny 1 bedroom without a working stove right next door to her old apartment (obviously also infected). Her nail business has come to a complete stop leaving her without any way to make money and provide for her girls. I ask that you find it in your heart to give whatever you can to help this mother and her 3 daughters rebuild their life again.
