Hi, I’m an undocumented senior studying engineering at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

I’ve worked incredibly hard to get here. I’ve completed 85% of my degree, maintained a 3.53 GPA, made the Dean’s List, and stayed committed to becoming the first engineer in my family.

But as an undocumented student, I’m excluded from federal financial aid, loans, and most scholarships — even though I’ve lived in the U.S. nearly my whole life.

On June 4, 2025, the Texas Supreme Court struck down the Dream Act’s in-state tuition protections. Overnight, my tuition bill tripled. This Fall, I owe $12,850, and because I already used an emergency institutional loan in Spring 2025, I no longer qualify for one now.

Without immediate help, I risk being dropped from my classes — not because I didn’t work hard, but because of financial barriers outside of my control.

I’m raising $13,000 to cover my tuition and mandatory fees this semester. This will allow me to stay enrolled for this fall.

Hola, soy un estudiante indocumentado en mi último año de ingeniería en la Universidad de Texas Río Grande Valley.

He trabajado increíblemente duro para llegar hasta aquí. He completado el 85% de mi carrera, mantengo un promedio de 3.53, he estado en la Lista del Decano y sigo comprometido con convertirme en el primer ingeniero de mi familia.

Pero como estudiante indocumentado, estoy excluido de la ayuda financiera federal, préstamos y la mayoría de las becas, aunque he vivido en EE. UU. casi toda mi vida.

El 4 de junio de 2025, la Corte Suprema de Texas anuló las protecciones de colegiatura estatal de la Dream Act. De la noche a la mañana, mi matrícula se triplicó. Este semestre de otoño debo $12,850, y como ya usé el único préstamo institucional de emergencia en la primavera de 2025, ahora no califico para otro.

Sin ayuda inmediata, corro el riesgo de ser dado de baja de mis clases —no porque no trabaje duro, sino por barreras financieras fuera de mi control.

Estoy recaudando $13,000 para cubrir mi matrícula y las cuotas obligatorias de este semestre. Esto me permitirá seguir inscrito este otoño.
