About Me

My name is Tahsin, and I am a first-generation Muslim immigrant living in New York City with my family. Six years ago, my parents made the courageous decision to move my siblings and me from rural Bangladesh to the U.S., seeking better opportunities for our future.

As a child, I spent my days climbing mango trees, gazing at the sky, and dreaming of flight. The distant roar of airplanes overhead filled me with wonder, and I knew, even then, that I wanted to be the one guiding those planes across the horizon.

Now, I stand at a pivotal moment in my life. I’ve been accepted to Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and have secured two scholarships and financial aid to cover my tuition. But while I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity, one critical hurdle remains: funding my flight training.

The Dream

Becoming a pilot has always been more than a career goal; it’s a symbol of freedom, perseverance, and the belief that no dream is out of reach. Aviation represents the chance to rise above limitations, both literal and figurative, and I am determined to make this dream a reality.

I’ve been accepted into Heritage Flight Academy, where I’ll receive the hands-on training required to earn my pilot’s license. However, the cost—$15,000—is beyond what my family and I can afford.

My family and I have faced significant financial hardships. We live in a basement apartment in the Bronx, and my brother works part-time while attending college to help support us. My parents, who sacrificed everything to bring us here, are unable to contribute financially to my education because of their health and age. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to working hard—balancing part-time jobs, studies, and flight training, but I need help taking the first step.
