Help an Iranian queer refugee reach destination
My name is Anahita, and I'm a 35-year-old member of the LGBTQ community. As a queer woman born and raised in Iran, like many others, I have faced numerous traumas, difficulties and threats. It is not a secret to the world that how women, especially queers, get sexually harassed and assaulted on a daily basis.
Due to some personal reasons, my education was cut short and I had to scape my homeland for a better life, and that’s when I decided to seek asylum in Turkey in 2018.
Since then, my life has been in a total limbo. I am not permitted to work legally and due to a lack of financial support, I have taken up various jobs, only to be exploited and forced to work overtime without receiving proper compensation once my employers discovered my status. It is an unfortunate norm for all the refugees, especially queers in Turkey to be overworked and exploited.
Despite these hardships, I am a 35-year-old woman with immense potential and dreams. Throughout my life, music and literature have been my solace, helping me navigate the challenges I have faced. I firmly believe in my abilities, and I am reaching out to you to help me experience the life that I truly deserve. Please join me on this journey and let us embrace the possibilities together.
