On December 28th, I suffered a work injury to my right elbow and in the process of reporting it, I asked to go to the hospital and my boss threatened me that "I will not last in this job very long" if I did. He followed through on that threat by firing me with my first absence after the injury. To cut the very long story short, I have started the process of filing a lawsuit against my former employer for wrongful termination and my lawyer thinks that I have a very good case (I have recorded all conversations with my management).
The unfortunate situation is that I am currently still injured. I'm getting my treatment paid for by worker's comp and I need to stick with them for my legal case to be stronger (according to my lawyer's advice). The issue with this is that they are very slow to give me any answers. I did my MRI 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard any answers to what my issue is. Without the paperwork from them to prove my issue, I am unable to file for short-term disability. And since I was technically fired, I am ineligible for unemployment benefits too.
My physical therapist thinks that I have multiple muscle tears in my bicep and triceps, but I have no proof of that. I am struggling to do daily tasks like cooking and doing the dishes, and I avoid driving for too long because of the pain I suffer in my hand after a very short time of doing such tasks. The pain is serious enough that I've been struggling to get any sleep the past 3 months. I've had to take strong pain meds or drink alcohol just to get any sleep.
With my current situation, I cannot work any physical labor jobs, which all of my work history is in, and with zero experience, it has been very difficult to get anything going with desk jobs either, not to mention the fact that I don't know if I will be able to hold one in my current state. I have started the process of applying to temp agencies just to get any income, but so far I've had no luck.
Which leads me to my current and very humbling situation. I am in need of assistance to help pay for my rent and basic needs for the next few months. I have no family or community that can help me with such things, unfortunately, and I've spent most of 2023-2024 living in my car due to stomach issues that doctors were not able to help with, but I was miraculously cured and I have lost all my savings during that difficult period.
This money will cover my rent and basic needs for the next 2-3 months, which, according to my physical therapist, should be enough time for me to make a full recovery, God willing.
It has taken me a long time to surrender myself to the kindness of strangers and to let go of my pride. I need help and I have nowhere else to go. Thank you for your help, and thank you if you read this far.
