Hi everyone! I am hoping we can help my friend and tutor Noelia, an indigenous woman, business owner, and educator.
Noelia has been my Spanish tutor for more than a year. From Bolivia, she teaches students all over the world via Skype, even offering sliding scale fees so poorer students can afford to learn. Throughout the last year of lessons, I've learned that this business, in addition to a second job, has enabled her to put both of her younger brothers through college, and, as the pandemic decimated the economy of Bolivia in the last year, support her parents, both of her brothers, her sister-in-law, and niece.
After an uncharacteristic cancellation last Monday, I learned that she'd suffered through a traumatizing, violent break-in the night before that damaged her home and belongings. A week later, she shared that her mother, who lives in another city, is suffering from covid and unable to run the store that supplements her family's income. "I am tired," She told me, the understatement of 2021. There is more to her story, but, in the interest of her privacy, I will not share all of it here. She is not yet aware of this fundraiser.
Every little bit helps.
If you are able to help ease the burden that this string of circumstances has put on her, it would be greatly appreciated. This money will help her secure her home from future break-ins, and provide a cushion of support to shield her and her family from future calamities.
This past year has been difficult for many, but especially for those living in countries who lack the social and economic support that wealthy countries like the US offers.
